KLIK Boks and KLIK Stik models contains software that controls the operation of the unit, called Firmware. From time to time the firmware may need to be updated in order to introduce new features or fix bugs. Reinstalling firmware is also a way to erase any user settings, including passwords, and restore factory settings. Firmware updates are issued periodically, and in the event that one is required, there are several ways to perform one. Choose the method that best suits your needs from those described below.
1. Flash Drive Firmware Update
KLIK Boks and Stik models may be updated by applying the new firmware from a USB flash drive. Start by downloading the new firmware file for your specific model, from the KLIK Firmware page located at: https://www.klikboks.com/klik-firmware
The file that is downloaded in named install.img and depending on your computer's security settings, you may receive a warning. Go ahead and save the file to a removable USB flash drive. Ensure that the flash drive is formatted as FAT32 and that the file is in the root directory of the drive (eg. D:/install.img)
Power off the KLIK Boks and insert the flash drive into the USB connector on the front panel (KLIK Stik users connect it to the combination Power/USB cable).
At this stage, KLIK Boks users may proceed by using the firmware update push-button located on the left side of the unit. KLIK Stik users skip to the the next section, OSD Firmware Update.
Hold down the Mode button on the left side of the KLIK Boks while powering on the unit.
Release the Mode button when you see the Loading Firmware message on the KLIK screen. The unit will restart with all settings in factory default mode.
2. OSD Firmware Update
This firmware update method is primarily used for KLIK Stik, because unlike KLIK Boks models, the Stik does not have an external firmware update button. It can however also be used with KLIK Boks CLASSIC, PLUS or PRO, should you wish to do so.
All KLIK Boks and KLIK Stik models contain an On-Screen Display (OSD) Setup menu that allows a user to make changes to the device's settings. To access the OSD, start by connecting to the KLIK by entering the displayed IP address into a browser. Once the KLIK Control Center loads, enter the admin password to log in, and select the Configuration tab.

The Configuration page offers a virtual remote control, that will be used to initiate the firmware update. Click on the settings icon shown in the top left of the virtual remote and note that the KLIK screen will change from Standby, to the OSD Setup page. You can use the arrow keys to navigate between tabs and settings, the check-mark key to make selections and the back button to move back and exit the Setup menu.

Start by downloading the latest firmware for your model by following the instructions in the Flash Drive Firmware Update article, above. Then, plug the flash drive into the KLIK, and note that the KLIK screen will show the USB drive once it is sensed by the system. Using the virtual remote arrow keys, enter the Setup screen and scroll to the System tab, select it, and scroll to USB Upgrade. Select this setting, then select On to initiate the firmware update process.
Once the KLIK has updated and restarted, remove the USB drive and confirm that the unit has been updated.
3. OTA Firmware Update
All KLIK Boks and Stik models can be updated Over The Air (OTA), meaning that they will connect directly to the KLIK update server through the Internet. Note that when updating from older firmware versions, this option may not be available, as the OTA process has changed. If the option is not available on your unit, you will need to perform a manual installation as described above.
OTA firmware updates require that the KLIK be connected to a network, and that they have access to the Internet. The process may be initiated by any one of three different methods, as detailed below.
1. Status Panel Update
Go to the KLIK Control Center by entering the KLIK IP address into a browser, then log into the KLIK using the admin password. Select Status Panel from the menu, and note the installed firmware version is displayed at the top of the page.
If the KLIK is connected to the Internet, and the firmware is up to date, a green check mark will appear next to the firmware version number. If a new version is available, you will be offered the option to push it directly from the KLIK server to the KLIK unit, or download the firmware for manual update.
2. OSD Initiated Update
Go to the KLIK Control Center by entering the KLIK IP address into a browser, then log into the KLIK using the admin password. Select Configuration from the menu, and use the arrow keys to scroll to the System tab, select it and scroll to Online Upgrade. Select this option to initiate the firmware update.
3. KLIKManager Firmware Update
The KLIKManager application (https://www.klikboks.com/klik-manager) allows remote management of KLIK Boks PRO and KLIK Stik models, including remote firmware updates. Download the application (Windows, Mac or Linux) and run while connected to the same network as the KLIKs. The app will display the firmware status for each KLIK found, and will prompt the user to update firmware where needed. Select the KLIK unit and click on Firmware Update to initiate a remote firmware installation.
