What is the Wi-Fi range of the KLIK Boks or KLIK Stik?

This is a question we are asked quite frequently, but the answer requires a bit of an explanation. First, there are two possible scenarios for a user to connect their PC, Tablet or Smartphone (device) directly to the KLIK:

To perform the setup of the KLIK.
To stream directly to the KLIK.

In both cases, the range of the KLIK is highly dependent on local conditions (competing Wi-Fi signals, obstructions, device power, etc.), but is generally less than 10 meters (33 feet). However, that is not the effective range of the device, once it is connected to your network. KLIK is designed to connect to a network, and hence the effective range is determined by the network, not the KLIK itself. In fact, one could employ a VPN connection and present to KLIK form the other side of the planet.

As stated above, one of the use-cases for direct connection to KLIK is to stream directly to the device, without connection to the network. While this is possible, it is not a recommended configuration, because of the following limitations:

Extremely limited range
Limited number of simultaneous connected users (8)
No Internet (or Network) connection

To stream directly to the KLIK, the user must disconnect from the Wi-Fi network and connect directly to the KLIK. This of course means that they are no longer connected to Network or Internet resources. This may be acceptable if the intent is to present only material that is on the device, and Internet access is not required.

Think of KLIK as a Printer, that you want to share among users in your facility. Requiring users to connect directly to the printer is unreasonable, as they would have to disconnect from the Wi-Fi and connect directly to the printer, every time they wanted to print something. The solution is to add the printer to your network, and that's the same solution for KLIK as well.
